Heriot-Watt Innovation Award
Victoria Gómez-Guillamón Buendía recieved an Innovation Award for her PhD Project “Surface Wave Guiding Systems for Wireless Power Distributed
Propagation”, from the Institute of Sensors, Signals and Systems (ISSS). She is currently supervised by Prof. Symon K. Podilchak. Victoria is also the 2018 recipient of the Postgraduate Research Prize for her work within the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Heriot-Watt University. |
FMCW Radar Work Shortlisted for 'Best Antenna Design & Applications' Best Paper Award at EuCAP 2018
The research and design of an FMCW radar for automotive applications was selected as a finalist for the 'Best Antenna Design & Applications' Best Paper Award at EuCAP 2018. The work, selected from 1000+ other accepted papers, was in colloboration with Samsung Electronics. The paper is titled 'Millimetre-Wave FMCW

Visiting Professor at Sapienza University in Rome
Dr. Podilchak won a 2017 Visiting Professorship Award at Sapienza University in Rome. Research work to include Leaky-Wave Antennas and Surface Wave Inspired Devices. |
European Microwave Prize
Dr. Podilchak’s PhD research was presented at the 2016 European Microwave Conference in London, UK and was selected by the European Microwave Association for The European Microwave Prize. |
More URSI Young Scienist Awards
Symon received notification that he will be a Young Scientist Award Recipient at the Atlantic Radio Science Conference (AT-RASC) to be held in the Canary Islands, May 2015. Also, in 2017, Samuel Rotenberg was bestowed a Young Scientist Award for the paper Efficient Rectifier for an RDA Wireless Power Transmission System Operating at 2.4 GHz which was also an Invited Paper for the Special Session on Wireless Power Transfer. The work was in collaboration with Samsung. |
IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society Exceptional Reviewer
The IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society (AP-S) has recognized Symon Podilchak as an Outstanding Reviewer for the IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation. Symon received the Award from the Editor-in-Chief, Professor Ben Leung from The City University of Hong Kong, at the 2014 AP-S conference in Memphis, Tennessee. The award recognized the Top Ten Reviewers who delivered high quality reviews in a timely fashion. Professor Leung also thanked all Reviewers for their important service to the IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation as well as AP-S. |
